Abstract

The IoT era increases need for oscillators and resonators in various sensor nodes. IoT applications also place more stringent requirements to the performance of oscillators. Some M2M applications need to operate 10 years with a single battery. The related communication protocols require frequency references with improved long-term stability. Assisted and autonomous driving requires wireless sensors satisfying the automotive quality specifications: reliable operation over a large temperate range in an environment susceptible to mechanical shocks.

In this talk we discuss how the MEMS resonator technology of Tikitin addresses the challenges set by the emerging IoT applications. In addition, MEMS solutions by Tikitin meet the requirements of most existing application of quartz crystals. Advantages of Tikitin resonators include good thermal stability over a large operation temperature range, small aging, and low phase noise. Tikitin resonators can be driven with several driving circuits designed originally for quartz resonators. Tikitin MEMS resonators enable more complete, miniaturized System-in-Package products which have MEMS resonators integrated within the package to eliminate the need for an external quartz crystal.
